How to score high on GRE
GRE success is about vocabulary depth, quant accuracy under time, and lots of full-length practice.
Build vocabulary systematically
Learn high-frequency GRE words in context and review with spaced repetition daily.
Master quant fundamentals
Nail arithmetic, algebra and data analysis; learn to use the calculator wisely, not always.
Practise section timing
The section-adaptive format rewards a strong first section — practise pacing carefully.
Template the AWA essay
Use a clear issue-essay structure with strong examples; 4.0+ is enough for most schools.
Take full-length mocks
Simulate the whole test regularly with official ETS materials to build stamina.
Fix weak areas
Analyse every mock: drill the specific question types you get wrong.
△ Common mistakes to avoid
- Cramming vocabulary without context or review
- Over-relying on the calculator and losing time
- Neglecting Analytical Writing until the last minute
- Not practising the section-adaptive format
- Ignoring official ETS practice material
- Skipping full-length timed mocks
